URBAN ATHLETE COACH
About the position:
Are you an outgoing, fitness-loving person with great social skills? Do you love motivating people to achieve their full potential? Are you ready to become a part of a fitness community in D.C.? Then the Urban Athlete Coach is the position for you.
While working at Urban Athletic Club as a coach, you will lead clients in a 50-minute group class designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance. Rooted in an athletic team performance format, the group class consists of conditioning on the turf, strengthening on the grid, and building muscle in the open area. The Urban Athlete Coach will properly instruct and prepare clients for the class while overseeing safety and performance standards.
In addition to teaching, The Coach will also serve as an educator on various aspects of fitness. An Urban Athletic Coach goes above and beyond to ensure the success of his or her clients. From personal emails or daily conversations after class, the Urban Athletic Coach will create personal relationships with clients.

Primary Group Exercise Certification and Certified Personal Trainer
Examples: AFAA, ACE, NASM
Current CPR certification and basic first aid training
Knowledge of safe exercise techniques and group exercise principles
Knowledge of basic physiology and body mechanics
Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills
Athletic background preferred
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Learn and create athletic training classes using the “Urban Athlete” format
Curate hip, awesome playlists for each class to keep people energized
Check in and greet clients before classes
Write workouts on all boards and be prepared for class
Properly demonstrate each exercise in a clear and concise manner
Clean and organize studio after class
Keep classes creative and upbeat every single time
Attend Weekly Google Hangouts to discuss class issues, training, and client feedback
Be an ambassador for Urban Athletic Club
Sell clients new training packages when theirs expire
About the position:
An Urban Athletic Club Personal Trainer is responsible for training and motivating current clients, building a client book, and bringing energy and enthusiasm to the training. Of course, the main goal is to provide professional training to each and every client. You will be part of our team goal to create the best environment for trainers in the area and reward hard work, dedication and results. Responsibilities include creating exercise programs for new/existing clientele of the studio, prospecting and selling personal training packages to create new revenue, and participating in weekly training meetings to help individual trainers.
We prefer candidates with a nationally-recognized Personal Training certification (ACSM, NASM, ACE, etc.) and 2-3 years Personal Training and sales experience is preferred. A bachelor’s or greater degree in a health related field is preferred.
Compensation begins with a 90-day introductory period with pay per session equal to $25 per hour. After the intro period, compensation ranges from 40-60% of the session, with a minimum of $25 per hour per paid session.
About the position:
The Urban Athletic Club Support Staff is ideal for those interested in getting started in the fitness industry. Responsibilities include assisting the front desk with client check-in/out; helping coaches set-up and organize classes; handling sales and customer service requests. Requirements include promoting the company in the local community by visiting local businesses, apartments, and retailers. For those who wish to work on the training side, then we'll focus on how to program the Urban Athlete classes, how to work with personal training clients, and how to develop a training style. For those interested in working on the administrative side, then we will focus on the back-end of the business.
