IT’S THE SEASON OF GIVING
Give back with SOME this Holiday Season!
We will be accepting donations at UAC Shaw starting this Thursday, November 1st until the end of the month. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community and help those in need. SOME gratefully accepts a broad range of items from the pantry to gently used clothing to toiletries.
The cycle of poverty and homelessness can be broken. SOME’s (So Others Might Eat) comprehensive programs designed to help our most vulnerable neighbors—people experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty—find pathways out of poverty and achieve long-term stability and success.
SOME is an interfaith, community-based service organization that exists to help and support residents of our nation’s capital experiencing homelessness and poverty. SOME offers a variety of services, including affordable housing, counseling, addiction treatment, and job training. In addition, SOME helps meet immediate daily needs by providing food, clothing, and healthcare to those in need.
In 2017, with the help of caring supporters, SOME provided:
466,170 meals served in our Dining Rooms and in our residential programs.
16,521 free sets of clothing and 13,037 showers to men and women experiencing homelessness.
29,586 visits to a doctor, dentist, therapist, or case worker across our Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health Clinics.

Support and care to 218 homeless adults with chronic mental illness at Isaiah House.
Comprehensive addiction recovery services, including a residential treatment program, to 545 men and women.
81 homeless and extremely low-income adult students with intensive job training and job placement. On average, SOME CET students earned over $14 per hour.
Safe, affordable housing for 141 families with 251 children, as well as 499 single adults.
