About Graham

Owner and founder of Urban Athletic Club, Graham has been training clients and groups in DC since 2000. Over this time he has become one of DC’s leading experts in Functional Training – the concept of training to help improve how one functions, whether in health, fitness, or performance.

Graham combines the expertise, knowledge, and enthusiasm to create training programs that not only produce desired results, but are also fun to do.

Graham has trained a broad range of clients including athletes of all ages, weekend warriors, and plenty of baby boomers – he’s even trained three generations of one family! Graham's training focus is to help clients improve the way they move, which directly improves the way they feel and look. 

Graham stresses movement prep; balance and coordination; speed, agility, and quickness; and core strength development.  He is a Level 1 CrossFit Coach, as well as a Certified Personal Trainer by both the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the National Strength Professionals Association. Additionally, he has completed several other specialty certifications including SAQ (Speed, Agility, and Quickness), Core Strength and YogaFit.

ABOUT TEISHA

Teisha Womack is NASM certified personal trainer, performance enhancement specialist and a former division 1 and professional basketball player. Teisha played division 1 basketball at Seton Hall University where she led the Big East in rebounds her junior and senior year, as well as playing professionally overseas in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Teisha became a personal trainer because she found strength in the gym, not just physically but through developing mental strength as well. She then had the desire to help others develop their physical and mental strength. She is currently a second year Graduate student at John F. Kennedy studying Sport Psychology.

About Haleigh

Most of Haleigh's life has revolved around sports, fitness, and wellness. It was at the University of California, Davis where Haleigh explored her passion of the wellness field. She became an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified personal trainer before graduating with a B.S. in Human Development in 2012.

While at Davis, Haleigh worked with Health Education and Promotion on the Physical Activity team, promoting various types of exercise for university students to take part in. After graduating, she made the move from west to east coast and served as a Fitness Programs intern at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Haleigh also managed CrossFit Mutation on the NIH campus. She enjoys continually learning about the fitness industry and the safe, effective methods of exercise to train her clients. Haleigh also understands the importance of daily activity and proper movement patterns. Her goal is to help you get moving.  

JAKE FARROW

Personal Trainer and Urban Athlete Coach

Jake Farrow graduated from Marymount University where he studied Exercise Science (B.A.) and played varsity lacrosse.  Combined with his degree and having been involved in sports and fitness his entire life it was only natural that he continued to stay in the world of strength & conditioning and coaching.  After finishing college Jake attained his Certified Personal Trainer license from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  

Jake isn't the kind of trainer to be the next to jump on fitness trends or the hottest gadget on the market.  Instead, his core beliefs are grounded in scientific research backed tried and true methods of fitness and nutrition that are proven to have effective results.  He takes this same approach towards his clients in terms of applying effective progressive methods to help clients achieve their goals.  If you are just looking for someone to come in for an hour and check a box for the day, Jake probably isn't the trainer for you.  If your serious about making real lifestyle changes or setting a goal and achieving it, Jake will be there every step of the way with a plan to help you arrive there.

Today he continues to enjoy lacrosse, basketball and a wide variety of recreational sports.  He counts Joe DeFranco, Robb Wolf, Mel Siff, Cal Dietz and Mike Boyle as his training mentors who have had the biggest influence on his career.

About Romain

I am Romain. I have recently moved to Washington, D.C. from the island of St. Martin/St. Maarten, where I have lived for the last 10 years as a swimming coach and personal trainer in marathon, biking, triathlon and overall fitness training. Born and raised in Normandy, France, my passion for sports and fitness began at the young age of 5. At the age of 16, I became a French National Level swimmer on a professional team where I swam 8-10 miles a day. This allowed me to become very strong in my physical abilities in sports, and in doing so I became nationally certified by the French Ministry of Sports in swimming and high level sports and fitness training. I later moved to Paris, France as a head swim coach and fitness trainer, before taking the leap and moving to the Caribbean to open a private swim school and team. This was a real life-changer. I learned English, met people from all over the world and explored different cultures.

For my personal fitness, I continue to challenge myself with new goals, whether it’s running the New York and Toronto marathon, to competing in long distance triathlons, or swimming across open water channels such as Anguilla to St. Maarten (5 miles) and St. Barth's to St. Maarten (24 miles).

My life in France and the Caribbean has opened new doors for me, including the opportunity to relocate to Washington D.C. where I joined Urban Athletic in July 2015.

Daragh Crowley

Movement Guru Daragh Crowley brings an envious wealth of movement, manual therapy and wellness experience had been forged over a 20+ year journey. Starting as a personal trainer & massage therapist he went on to found and own several fitness-related businesses and then left it all behind to live in India and Thailand studying and practicing Ashtanga Yoga and eastern bodywork. He has harnessed, distilled and integrated his diverse studies into a clear, concise methodology to improve human movement, reduce pain and generally increase awesomeness for his clients.

Daragh's versatile background helps clients rediscover their bodies through Positioning, Organizing, and Movement. Proper patterns lead to proper movement.

About Jo

Jo has a background as a dancer and even though she isn’t dancing currently it has had a major influence on everything she does when it comes to fitness and health. Her passion for dance is what got her into teaching/instructing about 7 years ago, starting as a Zumba dance instructor then moving on to teaching Functional fitness, spinning and core classes.

Large or small, your goals become Jo’s goals and she’ll be there every step of the way creating fun, functional, challenging and effective training programs that will allow you to commit to something and reach your desired results.

She is from Sweden and received her Masters Degree in International Relations from Göteborg University in 2013 and moved to DC in November 2015 shortly after obtaining her Personal Trainer License from one of the leading Swedish PT Schools, The Academy. In addition to being a qualified TRX trainer she recently went back to Sweden to further her training and can now call herself a licensed Nutrition, Heath and Fitness consultant by The Academy. Jo believes that in the fitness industry it’s vital to continuously learn and evolve through research, additional certifications, participating in new classes and training with other PT’s, which is why she hopes to have her Yoga certification in the next year.

About Ali

Ali or “Shoo” or “Coach Shoo” is an NSCA Certified Personal Trainer and has been an athlete her whole life. She earned her B.S. in Physical Education at Limestone College where she played lacrosse for the DII nationally ranked team. After graduating in 2013, Ali went on to earn her M.S. in Exercise Science and coach the women’s lacrosse team at McDaniel College.

Ali also works as a Health Fitness Specialist for an onsite corporate fitness facility where she instructs group exercise classes and trains clients. Ali has had experience with clients of all ages; she has one goal that remains constant and that is to encourage each individual to find their inner athlete.

In her free time, Ali is either staying active by working out and trying new classes, hanging out with friends and family, watching sports, or reffing high school lacrosse. She pushes herself past her own comfort zones so she can help other do the same!

 

 

Oscar Roa

Experience

Beginning in Soho NYC 2005, Mr. Roa has been a private fitness trainer to busy professionals, moms, dads and weekend warriors. Along the way, Oscar has worked with Grammy Award winners, National Best Selling authors, hedge fund managers, CEO's, housewives and retiree's. His passion has allowed him to travel over seas with clients, pick the brains of highly intelligent and influencial men and women gaining more and more insight into what it takes to become a champion in any chosen field. Oscar prides himself on being a problem mitigator and solver. Mr. Roa values his clients privacy and willingness to test the limits of what is possible.

 

BACKGROUND

From Collegiate Dixie Conference Rookie of the year and 1st team all conference honors to training with Team Olimpia in Paraguay, Mr. Roa enjoyed and continues to enjoy life as a soccer player. Along with competitive soccer, Oscar has competed as a Scottish highland games athlete (lightweight division), has thrown the javelin at a University Of Maryland Open Competition, trained shot put, high jump and continues to run on track and trail.  Beyond that, Mr. Roa's understanding of fitness and training design made leaps and bounds when he stumbled on Yoga style movements.  All in all, Oscars fundamental beliefs and principles revolve around youth, longevity and what it takes to cultivate them.

About Annaleigh

Annaleigh Beich is a 21 year old Community College Graduate with a transfer associates degree in Arts and Science. She plans to resume her studies within the next year at George Mason University for Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science.  She holds two ACE Certifications for Personal Training and Group Fitness Training. She plans to broaden her list of fitness and health credentials in the coming year adding sports nutrition and other specialized training certifications to better enhance her present and future client's experience with her.

Annaleigh has been in the field of fitness for 3 years now both in her own personal time and professionally training at various gyms in Virginia.

Annaleigh's hobbies include: outdoor activities such as running, biking, swimming and hiking. She is a social media lover and blogger, she created a blog called "Sweat and Sparkles Fitness" to better help young women in college and other women get advice on how to love healthier lifestyles and be confident in themselves. She loves fitness and doesn't miss a chance to workout!!

Her mission as a trainer is to create fun, challenging, yet easily modifiable exercises that hit all of the necessary areas that a successful workout should- cardio, total body training, body weight training, weight training, speed, agility and mobility. My Personal Nutrition plan

I try to make every meal consist of a Healthy Carbohydrate, Lean Protein (Fish, Turkey, Chicken, Eggs), and greens/veggies. Dairy is always in the form of Almond or Coconut Milk, Greek Yogurt, and the occasional cheese here and there with certain meals. Health fats and sugars are eaten as a snacks: Certified Organic or homemade protein/fruit and nut bars, Raw Almonds, seeds or nuts, fresh fruit, avocados, peanut butter or other natural nut butters and hummus with organic whole grain crackers, pita or veggie sticks. Each meal and snack is spaced out every 2-3 hours to make a total of 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Beverages include water, coconut water, coffee with almond/coconut milk, and herbal lose teas or green tea. Reward days are given usually on weekends or special occasions and that is when alcohol, sugar, and other indulgences are accepted.
